Preparing a Bike

One of the tasks that volunteers can help with on the day of the bike collection is to prepare bicycles for shipment to Africa.  The donated bikes are packed into large shipping containers (the kind you see on 18 wheeler trucks) and put on a ship for transport to Africa.  In order to get as many bikes as possible into the containers, the bikes have their handle bars turned and pedals removed so they don’t stick out.

Here’s a video of Winston Duncan and Ryan Buschmann demonstrating how to prepare a bike for shipment.
